Our third designed activity will be related with a renowned woman, Maria Montessori. She was a scientist, an educator, and also a fighter. She struggled for defending her believes and way of thinking in front of her social and political situation (Mussolini dictatorship) as well as she challenged the society in order to give a chance to poor, orphan, isolated and special needed kids. She wanted to not only preparing children for school but also for life.
Healthy and sportive timetable
In this activity, we would like to apply the ideology of Montessori to the children in the class. Therefore, our activity will be focused on the freedom of expression, the stimulation throughout all the senses and the experimentation of the kids by themselves (sensory experiences). This way, we will encourage the development of the creativity, the personal liberty, the independence of the kid, an increase of their self-confidence and also the responsibility of the students.
The activity will consist in the creation of a personal timetable about having a healthy and sportive lifestyle. Pupils will have to put together all the concepts which we have talked before and they have learned in other activities such as the alimentation pyramid or the importance of working the resistance, flexibility, strength, agility and velocity.
Moreover, at the same time we want to promote an initiative based on a self-managed creation of materials and learning. For this reason, we will provide to the kids the material and an example of the timetable which we have done previously with wood (like Maria Montessori materials).
So, the students will have to create their own routine throughout a week. They will have to choose what sports they are going to practise every day, decide which piece of food want to eat and, in addition, they will have to put the hygienic habits that they did in the corresponding days. It’s clear that the kids will have a lot of possibilities in the school centre due to the fact that we have all kind of sports facilities (tennis courts, gym, swimming pool, track, football field…) and also we will be putted in charge of provide the fruits and the correct pieces of food to make it more easy for them. Besides, we think that it will be useful as well as helpful for the children if we explained to them (in a global way) the different hygienic habits which existed as this way they will have a widely held view of it.

Materials:
We will give- as Maria Montessori gave- a lot of importance to the materials with which the kids are going to work.
We create a timetable like an example for the pupils and, then, they will have to create their own routine with our main guidelines. The schedule will be made taking under consideration the sharpness and the appropriate size in order to the children will be capable to reach and appreciate it. The construction of the timetable will be accompanied by several pieces of different colours that will symbolize a sportive activity, a piece of healthy food or a hygienic habit.
We did this table with wood and cork. We also will use paint in order to make the pieces related with sport, healthy and hygienic by colours and this way the construction will attract more attention.

Also we will need the fruits that we are going to provide to the kids and the materials that belong to each sport that our school offers (balls, music, rackets…).
For the explanation of the hygienic habits, the different offers of sports available in the school and the different characteristics of fruits we will pass a power-point.

Methods:
Class distribution
It will be mainly an individual activity, but we also want that the kids put in common their decisions, opinions and choices. For instance, if they are not sure about what they have chosen, they can discuss about it with their classmates and this will be useful for them in order to take awareness about there are different sports and ways of practising and doing it as well as to discuss about what are for them the best healthy and hygienic habits combinations for choosing in their timetable. They have the opportunity to understand that not everybody likes the same things and we strengthen the diversity of point of viewings.
Time and space
This topic will be taught for eight days:
We dedicated one day to explain- with the help of a power point- the different hygienic habits, the available of sports facilities inside our school and the wide range of characteristics that fruits have. After, we also do something more dynamic: an idea-sharing about which are their hygienic habits and why, their favourite sports and their favourite fruits.
The next day, we dedicated two sessions for the design and the construction of their routine and pieces.
The other five sessions will be focused on the application of this activity in a practical way; students will put into practise and do their choices throughout a week (in exception of weekends).
The activity will pass inside the classroom and we will provide them the best environment possible. We will ensure that the kids have the correct context in which work and we will also give quite importance to the hygienic measures, beauty and considering order as one.
Our class will be all adapted to the kids, the chairs, the tables and also the blackboard and all the furnishing will be adapted to their size. They will have a wall that will be all a blackboard in which they will be ought to write, express and discuss with their classmates whatever they want related to the activity that we are going to work with.
In addition, they will have in the walls of the class the alimentation pyramid that they did in the second activity related to the contract and some pictures of themselves doing the “Challenge to nature” that’s the first activity related with Summer hill, in order that they remember the sensations that they had and, at the same time, they can applied these learned contents with the new activity.
Furthermore, the school will provide them all the food that has into the possibilities as they take what they want in each corresponding day.
Finally, they will go to do the sportive activities in the places that correspond as we said school will provide them all the installations for do it.
Evaluation
The evaluation of this activity will be individual. The teacher will be in the class talking one by one with all the students about the decisions that they have taken and helping them, leading to the best option for the kids, taking in care their tastes (shared in the brainstorm of the first day).
At the end of the activity, the teacher will evaluate if they have done correctly the timetable and, obviously, if they accomplish all that they put in it as well as their capacity of self-management when it’s time to do the schedule and their participation and development throughout the eight days.
